TV Applications

The engagement begins by defining the audience, content model, viewing scenarios, revenue or membership structure and supported platforms. User journeys are designed for readability from a sofa, navigation with a limited set of controls and a clear indication of the active element. Menu, catalogue, search, detail and player journeys are prototyped alongside remote-control behaviour.

The Art Director and UX/UI team combine the brand's visual character with a television-specific design system. Typography, colour, imagery, motion, focus, loading, error and empty states are considered for large screens. Animation reinforces spatial orientation and is scoped to avoid distraction or degraded experiences on lower-powered devices.

Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Apple tvOS and Android TV / Google TV use different development tools, store requirements, media capabilities and remote behaviours. Project platforms are selected according to the audience, existing content infrastructure, budget and release plan. A shared design language is maintained while platform-specific navigation and technical requirements are implemented separately.

Including a platform does not automatically mean supporting every brand, model and legacy device version. The support matrix identifies model years, operating-system versions, resolutions, regions and required capabilities. Additional platforms or model support and changes to store policy are handled through the release plan.

Live streaming, video on demand, trailers, audio, subtitles, localisation and playback continuity are planned around the content and licensing model. The player is considered alongside streaming formats, CDN, DRM, advertising, network changes and failure behaviour. Support for particular codecs, resolutions or protection methods is verified against the target device matrix.

The application can connect to APIs, CMS, accounts, subscriptions, profiles, favourites, watch history, search, analytics and authentication services. Because long data entry is difficult on television, QR codes, pairing codes or second-device sign-in may be considered. Third-party licences, quotas, access and approval processes remain separate dependencies.

Approved designs and flows are developed within each platform's technical constraints. The test plan covers remote keys and focus order, launch behaviour, memory use, network interruptions, media playback, account journeys, subtitles, analytics and failure scenarios. Emulator checks do not replace testing on real televisions or media devices.

Application packages, icons, screenshots, descriptions, privacy information and test accounts are prepared for store submission. Platform review may produce additional requests related to application behaviour, content rights or policy compliance. Approval decisions and review timing belong to the store provider, so an exact publication date cannot be guaranteed.

After launch, operating-system, store-policy, media-service or API changes may require new application releases. Defect monitoring, analytics review, device compatibility, certificates, store accounts and new-feature requests are defined in a maintenance plan. Where simultaneous releases across platforms are required, the schedule reflects that dependency.

Cost and timing depend on platform count, the support matrix, screens and journeys, video infrastructure, DRM, accounts, integrations, access to real devices, store processes and maintenance. Content licences, platform accounts, device procurement and third-party service fees are considered separately. No specific downloads, viewing figures or store approval are guaranteed.
